Hello! My name is Ally Burg

Over the years I have changed my mind about a million times on what I wanted to be when I grew up. Marine biologist, doctor, lawyer, social worker, song writer, you name it… but after listening to a college advisor talk about Graphic Design, I fell in love with the idea of becoming a Graphic Designer. The idea of being able to create for a living was really enticing to me, and I have always enjoyed drawing, putting things together, and figuring things out.

My senior year in high school I joined the Career Advantage Program (CAP) at DMACC for Visual Communication. This included 5 classes part of the Graphic Design program they have. I took these 5 classes in the span of my two semesters in high school on top of my regular classes I had. I graduated high school in 2019 with my diploma and a certificate in Visual Communication. I went on to finish my degree at DMACC, taking various classes for digital illustration, typography, visual communication. I also tried out a few other classes like French, Video Production, and Airbrushing while I was there.

I graduated with my graphic design degree May 2021 and started working at PC Print Center in Ankeny the following week as their Creative Director for both locations.

Salem

Mr. Salem Finn is 4 years old, I have had him for about a year now. Salem is the sassiest kitty I have ever known, and is not afraid to talk back to you. He wins the heart of every person he meets, he loves meeting new people and sitting on my laptop while I am trying to work :)

Food

I love to cook as well as try new foods! I constantly watch cooking videos, shows, tiktoks, etc and I adore trying new recipes and learning how to make different foods!

I love to travel

I have been to Mexico, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Austria. I have also traveled around the U.S. to various states.

More Fun Facts

I like both coffee and tea, but not straight. I need creamer and or sugar. So more like a little coffee with my creamer.

My favorite Monster is the Ultra Light Paradise if we are talking fruity, but if we are talking coffee, Mean Bean is my favorite for sure.

I can play clarinet and saxophone, and I can play like two songs on the piano.

I am learning to speak French. I took two semesters of it so far in college and I am continuing to teach myself on Duolingo.

I used to dance, I started in 3rd grade and stopped my sophomore year in high school. My favorite genre of dance was tap dance, I used to help teach classes at my old studio.

I love color guard, I did it all throughout high school and I was the team captain my junior and senior year in high school. I still go out and spin some flags for some creative inspiration or just to get air.

My favorite color is Forest Green, and my favorite season is Fall.
