Burona

This was one of my favorite projects to create, the idea was to create a flag, currency, and travel posters for a fictitious micro nation. The inspiration behind the name comes from a combination of my last name, and the time is was created (Corona Time). My idea behind the micro nation was to have some fun colors, and also symbolize my family. My family is very diverse on opinions but we always are able to come together and accept one another despite our differences, and so I wanted to create my micro nation with the Moto to live strong and free.

The Flag of Burona

The Burona Flag represents unity of the Burg household. The four colors represent my siblings and I, as most of us have different parents.

The Burona Currency represents the Burg Family.

The front of the burona currency has a remodeled version of the Burg family crest. On the back of each bill, each animal represents a different family member or the family as a whole. The one dollar bill, known as the “Charlie”, has a deer to represent my grand father who has passed. My grandfather loved to hunt but toward the end of his life he go to a point where he couldn’t bear to hunt the deer anymore. The five dollar bill, known as the “Howler”, represents the Burg family as a whole, like a pack of wolves. The ten dollar bill is known as the “Gator”, this stems from my nickname “Alligator”. Last but not least the twenty dollar bill represents my dad, and is known as a “Pop”.

Burona Travel Posters

The objective of this part of the campaign was to create three very different travel posters to advertise your micro nation, while also going with the vibe of the previous assignments. Our parameters were to create one photo-heavy, one text-heavy, and one that is equally balanced otherwise we had the creative freedom. My idea was to bring in the same pink from the twenty dollar bill (“Pop”). I wanted to convey the vibe of the burg household as this get away from all the world’s BS, and relax, whilst enjoying the freedom of being you.
