Rebranding the Ankeny Diner

This assignment was to rebrand a local business in Iowa, and create a website for desktop and mobile use, a digital billboard, both browser and mobile ads, business cards, product redesign/packaging design, and I opted to also design a new logo. This campaign is still kind of in progress so I will post the final mockups eventually.

Desktop Webpages

After designing the new logo, I started with the website because I think that is where I could get the most branding guidelines for the rest of my work from. (plus I wanted to start with the big project). I stuck to the color scheme of the original website, but applied them differently. I used the blues and the yellow as the primary colors, then used the red as a secondary color. For typography I went with Seaside Resort NF as the header/sub header because I think it tied nicely with the retro/playful/funky vibe I wanted to convey. Plus I think it adds a nice contrast from the body type which is just Helvetica Neue Regular. Disclaimer: the pages are all the same width, the layout above just scaled the landing page down because its longer than the rest.

Redesigned Product

For the redesigned product portion I decided to redo their menu. They have a massive menu, and I didn’t think it would be right to get rid of some things on their actual menu. I followed the aesthetic of the website using the same colors, types of images and typography.

Business Cards

For the business card I wanted to mimic the cover of the menu, and keep it simple besides that. Mostly because I didn’t think it need to be super complex, the imagery speaks for itself, and the business cards serves its purpose.

Ads

My personal goal for the ads was to create as much diversity in what ads I make to show all the ways they would advertise certain deals or other promotions they have going on. I wanted to do this so if for some reason someone would need to create an ad using my branding style they would have a good idea of what they need to do. I redesigned some of their current ads they have on their Facebook to fit the new branding style I created.

Digital Billboard

For this part of the assignment we had to create 5-6 frames for the digital billboard design. Honestly, I thought this was wicked cool! I had no idea you could make gifs in photoshop. I kind of struggled with the design a bit, as in deciding what to put in each frame, and the flow of the gif.
